Covid-19 app in India

In India, “Aarogya Setu”, Covid-19 contact tracing app was launched. But It contains a problem. This “Aarogya Setu” stores location data and requires constant access to the phone’s Bluetooth which, experts say, makes it invasive from a security and privacy viewpoint.

But India has made it mandatory for government and private sector employees to download it. It has been already downloaded 100 million times. If you don’t install it, you could be fired, lose your job, or be arrested.

I understand the necessity of collecting the information. Those become to big data for solving Covid-19. But also the right to control the disclosure of personal information is very important. Because it’s so valuable. Not be priced yet exactly, I think. Human beings may make progress by collecting big data. But it has the possibility to cause some sad things.

I think we have to keep picturing what it should be. We have the power to think. And we can shape it. We can.
